Hmmmm

I had one of those moments in the garden last night. Faye and I were taking our evening stroll around the beds, her making sure nothing strange had hidden in the bushes and me doing my usual bend and weed routine. Tucked amongst the daylilies was a tall 3' rather scraggly looking plant that looked out of place. "Ahhah!", I pounced and after some serious tugging, it pulled free from the soil. At that point, I noticed it had a root ball that definitely showed signs it had been in a container at some point in time. So, apparently I planted this ratty specimen on purpose. I have no memory of doing so and absolutely no idea what this plant is.

I somewhat sheepishly replanted it in one of my holding beds (I call them holding beds because it sounds better than "no idea what I should do to make this bed look really cool" bed.) and figure I'll see what it matures into and where it should wind up as a permanent home. I guess landscaping by surprise plant is as good a method as any.
